Alhamdulillah, I've just completed a 2-day Personal Branding Intensive with Datuk Jake Abdullah & Datuk Wira Dr. Azizan Osman.
A lot of it made me rethink personal branding.
All this while, I've focused more on building the business and the LAZIZ brand.
I thought: the product has to be good, the team has to be strong, the systems have to run and sales have to grow.
Personal branding wasn't something I thought much about.
But over these 2 days, I started to see it from a different angle.
Personal branding isn't about becoming popular.
It's about what people remember when they hear your name.
So I started asking a few people who are close to me and have worked with me:
“What 3 words describe me?”
Their answers were different.
But when I put them together, many pointed to the same things.
Leader.
Strategic.
Executor.
And there was one line that I feel truly reflects the way I work.
I MAKE IT HAPPEN.
I'm the type who, when there's a problem, wants to find a way.
When there's an idea, I think about how to make it work.
Once a decision is made, we move.
If it doesn't work, we learn and improve.
Looking back, maybe I've been building a personal brand all along.
I just didn't realise it, and I wasn't doing it intentionally.
Another thing I learned: a founder's personal brand doesn't have to be separate from the company brand.
I've been through all sorts of things in building LAZIZ.
From product, sales, production, team and systems — to now, as we get more serious about OEM.
Many things worked.
Many things didn't.
And I feel it's experiences like these that I should share more from now on.
Not because I've made it.
I'm still learning too.
But maybe what I've been through can help others going through the same thing.
So from now on, I want to talk more about 3 things:
Leadership. Business. Execution.
What works, we share.
What doesn't, we take the lesson.
When there's a problem, we find a solution.
And once we know what needs to be done…
MAKE IT HAPPEN.
